TheraYoga is informed and inspired by the teachings of Amy Weintraub/LifeForce Yoga®, Rama Jyoti Vernon and Maria KaliMa/Functional Yoga Therapy. TheraYoga aims to bring balance, stability and inspiration to the individual through the panchakoshic model of yoga—the 5 body system.

 

TheraYoga is yoga plain and simple. The foundations and principles behind TheraYoga are no different than any other kind of Yoga. However, with so many different styles of Yoga, there is a need to differentiate this more therapeutic form of Yoga from other forms that may focus more on exercise.

 

TheraYoga classes and workshops may include the following practices:

  • Sankalpa (Intention)

  • Bhavana (Visualization)

  • Pranayama & Kriya (Breathing practices)

  • Deep Core Strengthening for Structural Support

  • Therapeutic Back Breathing

  • Asana—both Therapeutic and experiential (posture)

  • Mantra (sound)

  • Mudra (finger yoga)

  • Therapeutic Long Holding of Posture

  • Individual flow

  • Yoga Nidra

  • Students often receive hands-on assistance

  • In some cases, demonstrations are used

All of the classes that Rose instructs are based on this model of practice.
